Breakfast

Eggbert's

In the Coconut Marketplace, you'll find one location that is shared by Eggbert's (breakfast and lunch) and Hula Girl Bar & Grill (dinner).  We stopped by for breakfast.  My friend thought his Mushroom Omelet with Cheese and Hash Browns was good.    I enjoyed a full stack of Banana Pancakes with Coconut Syrup (about $8).  I had seen coconut syrup in several shops and was looking forward to trying it out.  I was not disappointed.  It definitely tastes different than maple syrup (which is also available).

Kono's

Before heading to the airport for Thanksgiving travel, Danh and I stopped by a new breakfast place to review: Kono’s at PB, all the way at the end of Garnet Ave.

Farmer Boys

3 egg Omelette Plate - Farmer Style

I ordered this because I was really hungry but we didn’t realize just how big it was! The omelette plate came with three eggs that was mixed with ham and veggies and came with a side of hash brown potatoes and two slices of toast. Inside of the omelette was even more potatoes which sorta made the overall taste a bit repetitive. Fortunately, the hash had a tasty hint of butter that didn’t make it too tiring.

Log Cabin Cafe

Looking for a breakfast or brunch place? Want to try dishes that other restaurants usually don’t have? Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Cup of Granola with Milk - Kind of unsweetened blandness…

Lobster Scramble-In with a Croissant ($12.95) - OMG!!! This is incredibly delicious! I don’t know why, but lobster and eggs go great together. It reminded me of a dish that my mother makes, which is sort of like a shrimp quiche. This is the best dish that I’ve tried here. I think they used provolone cheese.

Plain and Fancy Farm

Plain and Fancy Farm offers a buffet served family style. Upon entering, you’ll be in their gift shop, where you can purchase a bonnet, apple butter, sweets, postcards, and other assorted souvenirs.

Some of the many dishes include: Baked Ham with Cider Sauce, Mashed Potatoes, Chicken Pot Pie with Homemade Noodles, Iced Raisin Bread, Corn, and Golden Fried Chicken.

Le Peep

When my former employer used to pay for lunches, I think Le Peep was one of the choices. I remember it was pretty good, so when Dave suggested that we try the restaurant in Poway, I was up for it.

Some kind of raspberry coffee drink - espresso with whipped cream. I am not a coffee drinker, but it sounded so good. Big mistake. Espresso is extremely strong and I now realize that I do not care for it.

White Chocolate Kiss - steamed cocoa, vanilla syrup, and whipped cream. After the coffee fiasco, I ordered this drink and it was delicious.

Hash House a go go

I had heard several people speak highly of the Hash House, but did not have the opportunity to visit until a recent Sunday… I’ve heard you can expect long lines, but luckily for us, it was about 1 pm and we only had to wait a few minutes for a table for six.

Lynn says: “The Flapjacks here are HUGE! This is probably the size of a large dinner plate, with an even larger than normal plate to hold it. The flapjacks taste delicious here but due to the size, you can get tired of it fast. A better idea is to split with 2 or more people because they are best fresh!”
