Kearny Mesa

Wa Dining OKAN

Hey, there! I've been busy with work and life, but I wanted to share some great things to eat!

Here's the short of it: The Fried Shrimp with Mayonnaise Sauce was amazing!  The shrimp are plump and cooked to perfection, not deep fried with batter. ($6.50)  Call and make a reservation for dinner since the restaurant is pretty small.  Some servings are also small, so it might be a little pricey to fill up a hungry tummy.

Anny's Fine Burger (Kearny Mesa)

The lunch crew decided to try out a new place called Anny's Fine Burger which replaced a thai restaurant they had previously dined. From the staff I found out it had been open for 3 weeks. From the internet I found an original location in santee and NO information about the new kearny mesa location on their website. Time to update folks!

Back to the important part though... the food!

Crepe World

Crepe World has been open since August of 2009 and I was finally able to try them out this past week.  It was, well...  a little disappointing.  The service was very slow.  It was Saturday afternoon and there was only one worker bee responsible for taking orders, cashiering, AND making the food.  There were about a dozen people who arrived after us and several of them left due to the long wait time.

Crab Hut

One of my favorite places to eat is the Crab Hut, especially on Saturday nights because of the fun atmosphere, but beware of a long wait during peak hours.

What's fun is peeling and eating shrimp with your bare hands.  They also offer lots of other seafood choices (such as crab, crawfish, calamari, and catfish) along with appetizers, side dishes, desserts, and drinks.

Studio Diner

It was just another Sunday at UTC. I had rushed back from LA to hang out with Jodie, Tommy, Tia Mowry, and the guys of Veronica Mars (Jason Dohring, Percy Daggs, and Ryan Hansen). After talking to Ryan (my new BFF!) about the Studio Diner, Jodie suggested that we have lunch there and since I had never been there before, I was all for it! Especially since it’s one of the filming locations used for Veronica Mars and well… you know me. (It’s located right next to Stu Segall Productions.)

Phuong Trang

Phuong Trang has been in Convoy for as long as I can remember. I’ve been going there since I was a kid and always had a pleasant experience with my family. This time, Lynn’s mom was in town and so my mom wanted to bring her here to eat, at our family’s favorite restaurant (when I say family, I do not include myself because I have no favorite restaurant ^_^).

Chopstix

(Crunchy Roll) ~$5.00

Curry House

My first dining experience at Curry House was last year in their Los Angeles located restaurant. I was an instant fan of their chicken katsu curry which was juicy on the inside and crunchy on the out. Their curry sauce was average to me but their chicken left a good impression with me.

Recently, Curry House has opened another restaurant in the San Diego area in Convoy. I had to go check it out!

Jasmine Seafood Restaurant

Jasmine is one of my two favorite places for dim sum in San Diego. (The other is Emerald.) There is a variety of choices… new favorites and old classics… Even though the restaurant is extremely large, you may find yourself in a long line on the weekends and parking can be difficult.

Fried Shrimp Balls with Sesame Seeds - The sesame seeds were overpowering. They took away from the taste of the shrimp.

BBQ Pork Buns - I didn’t try this since I don’t eat pork anymore, but perhaps someone else will comment on them…
