Tapena Meetup at Costa Brava on August 30 2012

On Thursday we drove out to Pacific Beach for a Tapena's meetup at Costa Brava, not knowing what to expect. What we found  was a bustling restaurant, their outdoor patio filled with chattering patrons. The wonderful Ruben and Ghali, part of the restaurant waitstaff, were pouring samples of Tapena wines for tasting.

Tapena Meetup August 30 2012

Date:
08/30/2012 - 7:00pm - 11:59pm

Explore savory Spanish culture where the wine is flavorful and the art of conversation is alive and well.   Tapeña wines are from the Tierra de Castilla region of Spain and are extremely food- and budget-friendly.  Because of their easy drinking style, they are perfect for serving to a group of friends (or your peña, as they say in Spain)!

Cicciotti's Trattoria Italiana & Seafood

San Diego Restaurant Week Fall 2011

Restaurant 2: $10 Lunch at Cicciotti's Trattoria Italiana and Seafood.

We decided to visit this place for restaurant week because it was very cheap at $10 for lunch. Plus, the menu was almost the exact same as the $20 dinner with the addition of dessert.

Elijah's

Elijah's is a restaurant, deli, and bakery all-in-one!  They also offer catering.  They currently have a graduation fiesta special - $9.95 per person for a Greek or Mexican buffet.  Their food is good and hearty at reasonable prices.

Fred's Mexican Cafe

When I think of foods I want to eat, Mexican food does not cross my mind often. There aren’t too many dishes that appeal to me and it’s a bit unhealthy for my taste. Think of all that cheese and what not... But, two places can win me over. One is El Caribe in North County San Diego, and the other is Fred’s Mexican Cafe. If you want some delicious, yet healthier than most other mexican food, these two are the places to go.

Kono's

Before heading to the airport for Thanksgiving travel, Danh and I stopped by a new breakfast place to review: Kono’s at PB, all the way at the end of Garnet Ave.

Station Sushi

I took Lynn to this restaurant a couple of weeks ago for her birthday. Her friend had recommended this place and so we decided to check it out for ourselves.

The chicken curry bowl was shockingly huge! It could easily feed two people. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that good… The chicken and the sauce were okay, but I didn’t like the rice. It was way too moist for my taste and I would have preferred it if they had served the curry sauce and the rice seperately. That way, the rice wouldn’t have been soggy on the top

Gami Sushi

Oyster Shooter ($6.00). I didn’t try this and so I can’t comment on it. But from what I’ve heard, it gives you the extra oomph you might need at night. =)

Chef Choice Sashimi ($28.00). More than thirty pieces of daily fresh fish. I don’t usually eat sashimi but this was pretty good. My favorite was the yellowtail and tuna pieces.

Salmon Skin Handrolls ($5.00). These were scrumptious. Salmon skin is always a good choice.

Ki’s Restaurant

Top Sirlion Steak (rare) - 10 oz. naturally raised top sirloin steak served with mashed potatoes and green beans.  Dave says: “It was good. Not one of the best steaks I’ve ever had, but it was good. It was tender and rare… just the way I like it.”
