Coconut Macaroon Ice Cream Sandwich at Harley Gray

Even with the discounted prices, San Diego Restaurant Week can get a bit expensive after hitting multiple spots. Harley Gray Kitchen & Bar landed in our radar due to their reasonable dinner price of $20.

This restaurant is located in Mission Hills, around the corner from Brooklyn Girl Eatery, Farmer's Bottega, and Dennis's beloved ramen joint Izakaya Masa.

We entered a cozy looking restaurant with a mixture of booths and tables. I felt comfortable with the purple mood lighting surrounding the center bar. It felt very chill here. There wasn't a hostess at the front but someone near the bar area motioned for us to sit wherever, so we grabbed a corner table.

One of my top choices for this year's San Diego Restaurant Week was Farmer's Bottega. And... it's also my 200th review! I wrote over half of those within the last two years! Wow does time fly by before you know it!

At 7:30pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was packed and we were seated in the back patio area. Even though it was chillier outside, the heat lamps were at a perfect temperature that Dennis, wearing his big coat, was neither hot nor cold, and myself, in a sweater, felt quite cozy. It was also quieter and less cramped in the patio so we were quite happy with the placement.

Leroy's Kitchen & Lounge is on the beautiful island of Coronado. When San Diego Restaurant Week rolled around, I thought it'd be a glorious time to cross the blue bridge for a visit. The restaurant is a few streets away from the historic Hotel del Coronado but we were able to score a parking spot nearby. Our late lunch may have been another helpful factor.

There's a patio area with bright red umbrellas for basking in the sunny San Diego weather while the inside has both booths and tables.

There are a few TV's for watching sports at the bar while you drink. The beer menu has a varied selection on tap plus space to advertise upcoming promotions.

We were seated at a booth facing the bar and provided the SDRW lunch menu. It's a $15 pre-fix lunch with one appetizer and one entree.

Every year, we visit at least one Cohn Restaurant Group restaurant. They always have promos, such as their anniversary special where the price is the same as the year! Last year, we wrote about OB Warehouse and Indigo Grill and this year we picked a “new to us” place, BO-Beau Kitchen + Bar in Ocean Beach. There's another location in La Mesa (BO-Beau Kitchen + Garden) as well as a location in Long Beach (BO-Beau Kitchen + Rooftap).

BO-Beau Kitchen + Bar in Point Loma San Diego

I remember visiting this location years ago when it used to be Thee Bungalow and their parking lot is still horrible. There’s only a single entrance and it’s super rocky to drive over, plus the parking spots aren’t marked that well, if at all. Once you get past that, the entrance makes me feel like I’m about to enter a little cottage with the landscaping. Or maybe that’s my perspective when I view this picture!

There are two main dining areas inside plus an outdoor patio with heaters available. A nice bar is viewable immediately when you walk in and we were seated there temporarily while waiting a few minutes for our table.

The anniversary special is $20.16 for a two course meal which gives you a choice of an appetizer and a choice of an entrée. A menu is attached at the bottom of this post for reference.

Lunch at Grand Ole BBQ Y Asado

One of the most talked about BBQ places within the San Diego food community is the newly opened Grand Ole BBQ. They have Texas style barbecue so this place warranted a visit from us... or two or three! Grand Ole BBQ is located at 3302 32nd street, between the north and south park areas of town and we didn't have any trouble finding street parking.

You can spot the huge outdoor smoker immediately. That's where the magic happens. I probably say that about all barbecue places though!

On Sundays there is a special Argentine menu with different items than the rest of the week. The BBQ masters use this open flame pit in the back to make food instead of the super sized smoker in the front.

Ring in 2016 with Gogobot San Diego at their New Year's Party, "Dance Dance Resolution" at the beautiful Rancho Santa Fe Motor Club! All proceeds benefit The Seany Foundation to help bring hope and happiness to kids affected by cancer!

A friend and I attended Dance Dance Resolution (note the play on words from the popular DDR game) as media on Sunday January 31, 2016 through Delicious Buzz. The weather was all sorts of wacky that day, cold, wet and windy, but luckily the event was held indoors! Check out the highlights of the event below!

Mardi Gras Dinner Package at The Field

The big downtown Mardi Gras block party has moved to the weekend, Saturday Feb 6, 2016 rather than the usual Fat Tuesday! If you are interested in attending, the best deal is a Mardi Gras dinner package! The packages include $30 toward food/drink from a participating restaurant. Prices are $60 for general admission package or $90 for VIP ticket package.

For example, the current cost of a GA ticket is $50, and for $10 more, you’ll basically be getting $20 free to spend on food/drink. Similarly the cost of a VIP ticket is $75 and for $15 more, you’ll get a free $15 toward your food/drink!

The dinner package must be purchased online. You choose your restaurant when you purchase your tickets. Redeem your food/drink on the night of the party and have fun!

Beer and Liquor at The Field

We were paired up for a food preview at The Field Irish Pub, located just outside the block party. You can hear the lively Irish music playing in the background while you get your grub/drink on.

We went a little wild on the food last night for our preview.
