Fright at the Museum - Yelp Halloween Party
My first yelp party ever! I was alerted by Soo at HungryOnes.com to sign up. I'm 99% sure I would have missed out otherwise. Lucky for me, this was a public yelp party because my zero two yelp reviews haven't quite gotten me to elite status yet. Haha.
The Fright at the Museum party was held at the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park. For yelp parties, people line up for the event before it starts. Workers scanned our QR codes then gave us these business cards to use when the doors opened. People then smoothly flow inside.
Upon entry, we noticed this half lit display. . .
. . . Creepy giant spider in the corner included.
A mysterious gloved hand passed me a Yelp branded shotglass of something yummy to drink. I think it was slightly alcoholic. Plus one to my home collection of randomly sponsored glassware.
Inside I circled around again and again munching on samples.
Some of my favorites were the juicy slider from Waterfront and the chocolate budino from Isola Pizza Bar. I also had a delicious pork slider and tots from Funky Garcia's. Another notable item was the cinnamon bun wrapped in bacon from BarleyMash. My bacon was a little too stiff but it sure did sounds like a unique combo!
FOOD PICS:
Chocolate Budino from Isola Pizza Bar
Strawberry/Chocolate scoops on the left and Pistachio on the right from Gelato Paradise
Hot Dog from Lucha Libre
Soy Ginger Wings from Harbor Town
Krave Jerky
Tres Leches de Cafe from Puesto
Pork slider and tator tots (back) from Funky Garcia's
There's more food but these are the pictures that turned out best. There's more food pics on Faye's review.
ACTIVITIES:
Free balloon pop!
- This was one of the funniest things at the event... how many balloons can you pop in 5 seconds wearing a unicorn mask? My coworker gave it his best shot...
Free 3-D movies!
- I accidentally saw the World War one twice and the Space Chase one once.
Free massages from Massage Envy!
- After my massage, my shoulders felt sore the next day. I totally don't understand this process.
Free people watching!
- It's Halloween. People are dressed up. People are drinking. You can see tons of costumes and food on Soo's review.
FINALE:
At the end of the night, vendors *told* me to to take more food home... so I did.
Everything on my plate was held together by toothpicks except the donut. Too bad the orange frisbee with donuts was somebody else's. My pile made for two more meals the next day!
Halloween is all kinds of fun already. Add food and alcohol and watch what happens! Yelpers sure do get a lot of perks!
Until the next party...

Sure does look fun at this event! Hope I can attend next year.
as long as you have a yelp account and follow the requirements, you can apply for admission to any public event!
Wow! Your take home plate was awesome! Next year you should bring some tupperware. I think I am gonna bring a container in case Donut Bar is there. :-)
I loved the massages cause they rub out the knots which make your shoulders perpetually sore. The rubbing out process may leave your shoulders temporarily sore for a day but then you should feel great!
It was cool hanging out with you food blogging. Glad to see you had a great time! :-) I'll let you know when there is another open event or it I can plus one you.
i totally wish i had brought tupperware this year. next year we'll be more prepared. my shoulders are always tense especially when i use a computer so i may experiment to see if more massages help.
That looks like so much fun! I love the finale dessert plate. I have a giant sweet tooth!
