Fremont Diner (Sonoma)
While searching for brunch in Sonoma a while back, we found a place called the Fremont Diner. It was a little outside of the main Sonoma area so we headed out from our lodging. We somehow completely passed the place while driving. I think it was because the sign outdoors only said DINER or something. Or maybe we were just looking on the wrong side of the road for it!
Once seated, I ordered the chicken and waffles dish. We opted in for the bacon and green onion for an extra $2. It was soooo not your typical boring waffle and was good to the last bite! The chicken pieces were breaded and juicy underneath. I could hardly finish my plate because the portions were very generous!
Dennis ordered the brisket hash. This one was also delicious but second to my dish! It was almost like a beef stew but contained within a breakfast dish! The hash was very hearty and on the side were potatoes which were good filler foods.
I drool just thinking about how good my chicken and waffles were at this place. I wouldn't think twice to stop by here again if we're ever in the area. Getting there is a beautiful countryside drive as well, though all of Sonoma is gorgeous!

Wow the beautiful country drive is always awesome! Jealous!! I can imagine it doing wonders for your appetite. I drive through traffic everyday to the point where I get sick of driving...but I LOVE driving through the serenity of beautiful scenery, especially when there is little to no traffic.
I am glad my commute does not have much traffic! You should go wine tasting soon! Most locations require you to pass by gorgeous scenery! Where there's wine, there will also be food nearby!
A good chicken and waffle dish sure is hard to beat. I love that stuff! I have never been Sonoma, but I bet it's beautiful there.
Would love to know where your 'go to' chicken and waffles place is! The one at Hash House is decent but it's huge! I keep hearing about Rosco's but it's not in San Diego!
I actually don't like the fried chicken + waffles at Roscoe's :/ The waffle is so meh and reminds me of floppy Eggo waffles. This waffle looks wayyyy better!
the waffles in this dish were really good! since you do lots of breakfast cooking, you should experiment with the green onions in your waffle batter!
i love waffles and a savoury one would be so interesting. urgh if only i had a waffle maker. i read somewhere you could try to make it in a panini maker (which i do have) but i don't know it wouldn't be the same!
i'll keep an eye out in case you ever post a recipe for waffles ;)
