Crepe World
Crepe World has been open since August of 2009 and I was finally able to try them out this past week. It was, well... a little disappointing. The service was very slow. It was Saturday afternoon and there was only one worker bee responsible for taking orders, cashiering, AND making the food. There were about a dozen people who arrived after us and several of them left due to the long wait time.
I am now convinced that savory crepes are not the way to go. I tried one at the Paris hotel in Vegas, which wasn't that good and neither is the Turkey & Cheese Sandwich Crepe ($4.98) at Crepe World. It comes with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and mayo (as do all of their sandwich crepes). I started with the crispy edge. Delicious! Tasted like fortune cookies. But then, the crepe isn't as crispy in the middle. In fact, it was a little soggy. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.
My friend said the House Club Sandwich Crepe ($5.68) was lacking in meats... that it should have come with more ham, turkey, and bacon. Also, it wasn't the easiest thing to eat. It comes in a pink paper cone. Asking for a plate made it a little easier to eat.
Now, for the best part of the meal... the Waffle with Strawberries and Chocolate Ice Cream ($4.98 + an extra $0.50 for the strawberries) was yummy! The sliced strawberries are fresh and healthy (served without a sugary strawberry syrup). The waffle tasted delicious, but the scoop of ice cream was pretty small. Even so, I'd still recommend this. You can order it with other kinds of fruit and ice cream.
The menu is pretty extensive with almost 50 items - plain crepes, crepes with fruit, crepes with custard, crepes with cheesecake, crepes with ice cream, crepes with Nutella... But, again, I suggest staying away from the sandwich crepes. The prices are reasonable. But I warn you, the parking lot is horrible! There are so many great places to eat in this little corner of Convoy, but very few parking spots are available.
