PizzaRev (Scripps Ranch)

Dennis and I are fans of the build your own pizza trend. For Black Friday, PizzaRev offered pizzas for only $5 each! We hit up the nearest location (Scripps Ranch) soon after opening and ordered four for the two of us. We weren't worried about finishing it all since pizza works fantastic as leftovers.

The concept is simple. Start from a pre-designed pizza and or start from scratch. Either way, you can customize to your heart's content at one set price, currently $8.25.

The employees assemble the pizza in front of you and can provide suggestions if you need ideas.

Here is one of our customized pizza ready to go into the oven!

After a 5-10 minute wait, our pizzas arrived!

Base: Rev'd Up Meat and Peppers (no jalapenos)

Additions: spinach, sun dried tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms

Base: Prosciutto & Fig Balsamic (seasonal special)

Additions: bacon, tomatoes

Base: BBQ Chicken

Additions: bacon, cilantro

Craft your own: Dennis put almost everything on here. You can do whatever you want with it!

Here's a closer look at the pizza crust. It is thin with some crunch but does leave a bit of mess on your fingers due to the abundance of cornmeal.

The Rev'd Up Meat and Peppers and the BBQ Chicken bases were our favorites of the day. Topping-wise, there aren't as many options as some of the other pizza places we've tried. I'm sad that they don't have finishing sauces like pesto at the end. Also, the mushrooms were cut a little thick so did not cook completely. Still, the price is good and one pizza is enough to satisfy a regular sized appetite.

We purchased a $50 giftcard that came with a $20 bonus card so we'll be back before the end of the year to use it! There are two locations in San Diego and almost two dozen locations in California plus a few in other states. Check their website for more info.
