Firefly on Paradise (Las Vegas)

After visiting the Grand Canyon last year, Dennis and I hit up Las Vegas for a couple of days before returning to San Diego. We decided to venture off the strip for one of our meals and I set my sights on Firefly on Paradise. Tapas here we come!

Firefly had a really cool looking bar area and artsy bright decor. I loved all the red and orange accents!

We were the first customers of the day so had our pick of seating. The shady patio area seemed perfect for the warm but comfortable weather.

Dennis ordered a delicious Cherry Mule to start. It was a tad bit heavy on the ice but the awesome copper mug kept it ICE COLD. In fact, Dennis couldn't help himself and ended up ordering his own copper mugs for home use! Drinks anyone?

The complimentary appetizer bread was brought out. The butter was flavored with almond honey and paprika, jazzing up the crostini style bread. Our food came out soon after.

Apple and Manchego salad ($6) - We loved the crispness of the apples and the addition of the firmer manchego cheese gave me something to bite on! I really enjoyed the combo of both with the crushed smoked almonds!

Grilled Scallops ($11) - Three very buttered scallops had to compete with the potato puree and tomato beurre blac around it. I would have preferred a simpler dressed scallop and less salty. Dennis still enjoyed this dish but he likes things saltier!

Stuffed Dates ($6) - We got 5 of these in an order. The crunch inside from almonds plus the burst of sweetness when you bite in was sooooo good. The bleu cheese was on the subtle side.

Potatoes Bravas ($6) - A little more crisp would have been nice but these were decent. The spicy aioli sauce on these reminded me of adobo meat sauce so it was quite different than what I've had before.

Serrano Sliders ($8.5) - Serrano ham was mixed into the patty but I couldn't really detect it. Is ham flavor strong enough to stick out anyway? Still, it was a relatively juicy and well seasoned slider cooked medium rare as we asked. The onion strings together worked as a whole but were quite oily by themselves. More bleu cheese and green onions gave it another dimension.

It didn't seem like much while ordering but these dishes were plenty of food for lunch. Our waiter Carlos provided us with very good recommendations!

Besides food, I believe they mentioned having a "nightclub" type environment in the evenings, like a salsa event on the weekends, which sounds fun. And, strange as it seems, I remember the bathrooms having a nice sweet cherry scent. Firefly has pluses everywhere! I think this place is worth checking out!
